Reversible laser eye surgery: the next frontier

Is laser eye surgery reversible?

Mr Angunawela and others at the Singapore National Eye Centre have pioneered a ground breaking technique that allows laser vision correction to be reversed at any time in the future using the patients own tissue. The preliminary proof of principle experiments were performed on a primate model and showed complete reversal of the procedure.

This cutting edge technology may one day allow patients to have further refinement of their vision as they age or allow a 'inlay' of their own tissue to be used to treat reading difficulties.
