Patients travel from the USA to London for corneal collagen cross-linking

Corneal collagen cross-linking also called Holocomb C3R, a treatment that stops the progression of keratoconus is widely available in Europe but not yet approved by the FDA in the United States. American patients with keratoconus are now travelling across the pond to London for cross-linking treatment (Holocomb C3R). 

Mr Angunawela performs accelerated cross-linking using the Avedro system and combines this with laser phototherapeutic keratectomy (PTK) which is shown to improve best corrected post-operative vision by 2-3 lines. The cost of treatments in London appear significantly less than charges by selected clinics in the USA even when the cost of flights and accommodation are added on.
